Is It About Power?
How does it happen that an entire state makes such a bad energy policy decision that a dozen people die in their homes? Are we only seeing the beginning of the really bad stuff? Windmills frozen, solar panels covered with snow, rolling blackouts, and people freezing to death. Today’s episode is about how the Green New Deal is really killing America and how Democrats failed logic is downright dangerous for poor people!

Welcome to the conservatives guide to American politics. My name is Ed Bejarana. And I am an otherwise happy go lucky conservative who enjoys life in North Idaho with his wife and two golden retrievers. For all intents and purposes, I keep to myself and think your folks should live and let live, you know, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. But I am frustrated watching the news. All I really tune in to see is the weather and maybe some local interest stories. But most of what they show me is their political biases socialistic tendencies, the American media is no longer neutral. Instead, they use their megaphone to influence political power. The ideals of America have been hijacked by people who otherwise dislike or hate American ideology. I started this podcast as my way to fight back from my little slice of America. Call it a rallying cry for other common sense conservatives to arm themselves against the onslaught of negativity. It is time the America hating progressives hear from the silent majority. It is time for conservatives to stand up and be heard.
Okay, so before I dive into it, let me go over a few notes that I jotted down from weather.com on Tuesday, February 16 2021. So more than 4 million homes and businesses are without power in Texas. Hundreds of 1000s of households have been warned to boil water because of the blackouts. At least 12 deaths are tied to winter storm Hurry, as millions remain without power in Texas, and some lose water to any minute now I expect to see a OC race to the mic to dis declare success in her green New Deal campaign. I mean, death and destruction has got to be the goal. Right?
When Barack Obama was running for office, he campaigned on the idea that under his policy of cap and trade, energy prices would necessarily skyrocket. Joe Biden is calling for half of all power in America to be generated by clean windmills, and solar power panels. AOC is even calling for airplanes and trucks to be stopped. Oops. You know, I kind of jumped right in the middle of the story. Please, please allow me to catch you up on some national news. You see a polar vortex otherwise called a national cold front moved across the United States this Valentine’s day week, and millions of windmills and solar panels froze up and stopped generating electricity. Meanwhile, millions of households lost power and couldn’t heat themselves and more than a dozen have died. Oh, okay. Really only a couple of folks died from exposure to the frigid temperatures. The others they died from carbon monoxide poisoning as they tried to run generators and cars to generate heat. If AOC gets her way, those engines would be stopped once and for all. And everyone who died this week would have succumb to the elements instead.
Do I sound bitter? Maybe I am. Why? Because the likes of AOC are not done with their energy disaster. nation killing green New Deal policies. No, no, no. They are just getting started. In Oregon. They are removing clean hydroelectric power generating dams. And the idea is taking shape in my home state of Idaho. California has set forth policy that by 2030 no gas powered cars will be allowed sold in the state. coal power plants are being shuttered by presidential edict. Natural gas and oil well leases are being canceled. The XL pipeline was shut down. Trains carrying oil tanker cars are restricted from traveling Washington and Oregon. Now The green New Deal policies are certainly going to be the death of our nation.
for 40 years that I can remember, Democrats have been clamoring, the world would end either from global warming or global cooling. Honestly, I can’t keep up with which direction they’re complaining about now. But let’s back up a moment and see if together, we can’t come up with a more logical way to deal with climate change. First, let’s get one thing straight. The climate on planet earth changes. Back in the 70s when the global warming craze was going full steam. I cringed every time I heard a republican counter with No, it isn’t. Honestly, people, your horrible debating skills have gotten us to the point where we are today. You see, I don’t blame AOC and the Democrats in Congress for the 12 people who died in Texas, actually, I need to update that number. It’s now over 20. No, I blame my fellow Republicans. Before you all jump to the rhino dismissal. And let me point out Texas is a republican controlled state is 30% of their power generated by windmills and solar panels. More on this in a few minutes, let me get back to climate change. Earth has been warming up and cooling down for about 4 billion years, at least nine times in our planet history. All life for most of it was killed off by global cooling. Several times much of the life on planet was killed by global warming. So Earth is an uncontrolled environment, where life will be again extinguished by temperatures getting too cold or too hot. That should have never been the question. Is Earth heating or cooling? Of course it is. The question should have always been is man the cause? This podcast is not a debate on the merits of either argument. Well, I have my belief that a single volcano spits out far more global impacting emissions than man could ever produce. But my point today is one of logic and preparation. If it is true that the climate will change, wouldn’t it be a better idea to have all the possible weapons in our arsenal to defend against the efforts of global warming or cooling? Meaning? wouldn’t we be better off if we had the energy needed to provide for the safety and well being of Americans? Notice I didn’t say Germans or Russians or Australians. I am American and like President Trump, believe in America first. But that ventures into another podcast topic too. So why did take Texas take offline the coal and oil based power generation that the windmills and solar panels replaced? Let me say this another way. This is not the first time Texas has experienced a cold snap. I like the way Tucker said it on his episode this this week. Texas is the place where natural gas is drilled. They have more natural gas than anyplace else on Earth. dying from the cold in Texas is like dying of starvation in a grocery store. I love that lied. Why is it the democrats feel it is critical to shut down other electricity generating options to bring online their windmills and solar panels. This is a serious question. We had the power before and Obama shut it down, made coal fired plants too expensive to run. Here is the logic he used. By making power generation using fossil fuels more expensive than the profit margin for clean fuel technologies are higher, so entrepreneurs will venture into clean energy. Let’s pick that apart just a little bit. On one hand, the democrats are using market control policies to drive up prices on the power generation techniques we need to help stimulate supply and demand forces to fund the power generation technologies that are as of yet unproven. Put yet another way. They’re using socialism to promote capitalism. What happens to the family making minimum wage when they can no longer afford their electricity bill? Or Or what about the price of a gallon of gas to get the work? Heck, how about the price of bread and milk that are now twice as much because the cost of production or triple or quadruple what they were before
The Democrats are messing with the free market system with hopes that clean energy technologies will work. Well, I have an alternative idea. How about build your windmills and solar panels, but keep the coal and natural gas power plants running on to your clean technologies reliably replaced the power generation by other means. Let me say this another way, this is a popular thing for today’s episode. Remember back when you were younger, and you got your first job, you were very happy at first and then kind of got tired of the day in and day out grind of the job. So you started talking about getting a new job? Remember what mom told you? Sure. She said, Don’t quit your current job until you have a new job. Why did the democrats never learned this lesson? Don’t shut down the proven technologies until the unproven technologies become proven and can safely replace the old ways. Let’s add to this idea that my wife and I bought an electric car a few years back, don’t hate me. I didn’t do it to save the planet. I did it because I can plug it in in the garage. And I don’t have to stop at the gas station to fill up. I got it because I am lazy. Anyway, we bought an electric car. And honestly, it is the best purchase I’ve made in a very long time. We got it used for less than $4,000. The car has a very low operating cost and we have not seen much of an increase in electricity bill. All in all, the electric car purchase was a success. Now I live in northern Idaho. And I know that batteries don’t fare well in freezing temperatures. So I did not sell the all wheel drive SUV we also drive. No, we kept that car and I drive it when road conditions are too treacherous for the little car. You see, we didn’t put all of our eggs in one basket. Let me see if I could drive this point home. The green New Deal the the Paris Climate accord the national fuel economy standard. All of these organizations are looking to control human behavior by limiting options. It’s like democrats cannot think of a solution unless it involves killing something else. Their whole basis for improvement is based on making it harder for current businesses to operate, thus making it more expensive to do the current way and force us to seek less expensive alternatives. For purposes of understanding, I’ll call this approach the the glass half empty approach. They want to focus on eliminating the bad before replacing with the good. Let me stop here for just a moment several years ago, Bill O’Reilly when he was still on the air and was champion the climate change debacle bill would say we can all agree having less gunk in the air is good. So often the climate change debate is conflated with clean air and healthy living. coal power is generally a dirtier power generating process than natural gas. But there is residual heat and thus, energy fluctuation is more predictable. Natural gas has some residual energy value. But when the gas is turned off, the power generation stops pretty soon after. When windmills stopped turning, the power generation stops instantly. Planning for power fluctuations in wind and solar are very tricky. But my point here is I’m not arguing against cleaning up power generation. I too want less gunk in the air, but not at the expense of life because the heat got turned off in sub freezing temperatures. So here’s my suggestion for a more glass half full approach.
Rather than telling companies, they have to produce cars that have high fuel efficiency standards, put forth a contest like environment for battery production efficiencies. Remember the contest for the first commercial flight into space, something like that. But for electric power generation, car batteries, power generators, etc. We should stop shutting down effective means to life critical power generation to try and influence human behavior and instead create an incentive based model whereby entrepreneurs can make big money developing a better clean energy system. I recently watched the discovery special on Nicholas tells Tesla Did you know he worked for Westinghouse with Thomas Edison? Sure, Thomas was pushing for direct current electricity, and Tesla had developed alternating current. The one who could prove the better system would when the Niagara Falls power generation contract. Edison system was very limited and would have required a power plant every mile along the power transmission lines, while Tesla’s system would have been able to power the entire Northeast region from a single powerplant. Democrats are in my opinion, stifling creating an invention by restricting current production with hopes of driving costs through the roof. Rather than putting poor people who are not able to afford the skyrocketing cost of power at risk of freezing to death. Our nation should use the economic powerhouse that is the American inventor and turn them loose to save the planet. A portion of this program has been sponsored by Joe at f1 for help.
